Buff
The artists document markings left from the process of graffiti removal, otherwise known as ‘Buffs’. These markings can be perceived as a form of abstract expressionism, which the artists have playfully photographed and altered over a two year period.
Throughout the process we noticed that certain areas of the city had dominant colors being used to create these buffs. These marks were isolated and organized by color to demarcate each area and chapter.
Blind embossing the project title on the cover was a subtle nod to the underpinning concept of the project — the removal of marks.
